Please see below for details about our town's history and the school's restoration project...
The old school that sits on top of a hill in the middle of Weatherly, PA is more than just a crumbling relic. It was originally a gift to the town back in 1901 by the president of U.S. Steel Corp. Charles Schwab. Mr. Schwab married Eurana Schwab who lived on Second Street in Weatherly.
Our town had an opportunity to save this school when the school went up for forclosure. In January 2017, our town had purchased the building from the funds that our group raised! However, we are far from finished. Asbestos, mold, old piping, old electricity, structual damage over time to the roof and bricks are now challenging us to continue to raise funds for this old masterpiece.
Because our town owns the building, Weatherly's Borough Manager has filled out and submitted documentation to start receiving grants for renovations. Unfortunately, with grants, we don't know what time frame if we even earn grant fundage for the school. Because of this, it is still our responsibility to try to continue to raise money for renovation efforts. To make a pledge or donation, please see our "Make a Pledge" page.
